Iceland
Iceland is an island, a European country, located midway between North America and mainland Europe. It lies just below the Arctic Circle between 64 and 66 degrees north. The capital is Reykjavik. It is the northernmost capital in the world.
The island lies just south of the Arctic Circle. Iceland is a country of extreme geological contrasts. Widely known as “The land of ice and fire” Iceland is home to of some the largest glaciers in Europe which covers over 10% of the country, and some most active volcanoes. Massive glaciers are protected in Vatnajökull and Snæfellsjökull national parks. Iceland’with a population of around 365,000, has an overabundance of spring water and more per capita than any other country in the world.
